TALON:

The greatest warrior of the race of birdnoids known as the Cutteray.
Honored and respected among his people, Talon became the Cutteray's
greatest warrior after a battle in which he killed two of King Galant's
sons. Ironically, after peace is declared, he is sent to Neamis
with Galant's only surviving son to investigate the return of the
Markeen. Despite his reputation as a warrior, Talon is a simple
creature. Before the war he was a school teacher, thus his vicious
skills in combat are contrasted by his more thoughtful, intellectual
side.

KING
GALANT:
411:
King of the outer isle of Utopia. For generations King Galant's
people have warred with their neighbors on the isle of Utopia: the
race of birdnoids known as the Cutteray. After losing two sons in
the age-old civil war, Galant made peace with the Cutteray and ushered
the first peace Utopia had known in five hundred years. Fierce and
honorable, Galant sends his only surviving son to the island nation
of Neamis after the vicious Markeen begin ravaging that land. |
GABBY
AND TURLO:
Gabby and Turlo are brother and sister elves that
join Saint Angel's band of warriors. Gabby is an experienced warrior
and mystic who has vast knowledge of the floating continents and
their population of fairies, dragons, and ghouls. Turlo, Gabby's
older brother, is an elfin healer and philosopher. He uses his brotherly
influence to quell Gabby's sometimes overly aggressive instincts. |

JONN:
The Prince
of Utopia, son of King Galant. Though Jonn secretly wishes to
be a writer, his royal station forces him to follow in his father's
footsteps. Spared the agony of war by the King's peace accord
with the Cutteray, Jonn hasn't experienced the pain his people
have endured. Following the end of the Cutteray war, Jonn's father
arranges for him to marry the Empress May Sudat. But when the
vicious Markeen return, the marriage is delayed and Jonn is sent
with the Cutteray warrior Talon to investigate. Soon he comes
face to face with a mythic warrior known only as Saint Angel. |
EMPRESS
MAY SUDAT:
Daughter
of Emperor Sudat. May was born of royal blood and received an
upbringing and education worthy of a princess. She has visited
all of the island nations and speaks most of the native languages.
Following the death of her mother, May was raised by a group
of High Priestesses. When her father arranges for her to marry
Jonn, the son of King Galant, May is outraged. Eventually she
succumbs to her father's wishes and agrees to make this sacrifice
for her people.
